As the name suggests, the GIC (General Insurance Corporation of India) holds an exam for the Assistant Manager post. GIC Assistant Manager is one of the most sought after Insurance exams in Indian Insurance sector. GIC conducts this recruitment exam from time to time the vacancies for ‘Assistant Managers (i.e. Generalist & Specialist) Scale I’ posts.

After qualifying the GIC Assistant Manager Exam, you become eligible to get a job in GIC and can be hired as an Assistant Manager in the prestigious General Insurance Corporation.

As GIC Assistant Manager, you will be getting a handsome salary along with other allowances. Your initial basic pay will be around Rs 32, 795/-. However, the total emoluments can go up to Rs 49, 500/- if you also count the perquisites. After a while, your salary will increase rapidly along with your career path at the Corporation.

GIC Assistant Manager Eligibility Criteria

Overall, there are 2 criteria on which the eligibility of a candidate is judged for GIC Assistant Manager position – Age Limit and Educational qualification. If you satisfy the age and education based conditions set by GIC then you are eligible for the exam.

A. Age Limit for GIC Assistant Manager (as on 8th May 2018)

  • Minimum Age – 21 years

  • Maximum Age – 30 years

Relaxations in Upper Age Limit

  • SC/ST – 5 years

  • OBC – 3 years

  • PwD (Person with Disabilities) – 10 years

  • and others as per Government norms.

B. Educational Qualifications for GIC AM (as on 8th May 2018)

  • General Stream – You should be a Graduate/Post Graduate in any discipline from a recognized University with at least 60% marks.
  • Hindi Stream – You should be a Post Graduate in Hindi with English as one of the subjects in Graduation OR Post Graduate in English with Hindi as one of the subjects in Graduation with at least 60% marks.

GIC Assistant Manager Exam Pattern & Selection Procedure

The GIC Assistant Manager Exam takes place in just 2 stages – Online exam and Interview. The 2 stages that you need to qualify to get recruited as an Assistant Manager with the General Insurance Corporation are:

  2. Group Discussion/Interview

Stage 2 – GD & Interview

The candidates are shortlisted for Group Discussion and Interview on the basis of overall marks scored in Part A + Part B + Part C of written examination out of total 150 marks. The minimum qualifying marks for Group Discussion & Interview is 60% marks separately.

  • The minimum qualifying marks for online written examination is 60% for GEN & OBC, and 50% for SC/ST.

  • The minimum qualifying marks for overall selection process (online written exam + GD + Interview) is 60% for GEN & OBC, and 50% for SC/ST.

  • There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.

  • The Written Test is bilingual i.e. English and Hindi except test of English Language.
